Subject: Lotus Notes client configuration following Outlook mail migration
Feedback Type: Question
Product Area: Notes Client
Technical Area: User Interface
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.2
Reproducible: Not applicable

We've recently migrated to Outlook (I know, let's get past the "bad move" comments; it wasn't my decision). I am now being asked to prevent mail routing from the Lotus Notes client (except for internal applications).

We still have a handful of applications, at least a couple that use mail routing. According to the develops, the code uses basic Notes/Domino Send commands. I assume I am going to have to leave mailboxes on the servers for everyone for this to work.

Our core application is used extensively offline and replicated with the servers when the users are back in the office or have Internet access, which makes me think I will still have to have local replicas.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I should configure my client location documents based on this new configuration? Currently everyone is set to use a local replica for mail. Part of me thinks, if I switch this to server-based I will have more control over the deletion of any items in the mail file (I don't know if all users are still set to replicate their local replica).

I'm willing to listen to any options others have tried. Since our management wants NO mail stored in the Lotus Notes mail files and NO mail sent externally from "most" Lotus Notes users (i.e. our core app still sends to any client address), I am also considering purging all current mailboxes. I'm also considering adding code to the Send buttons to prevent sending through the UI. This wouldn't prevent sending through the other apps, would it?

Any suggestions or pointers are appreciated.

Thanks.
